We recently did a beautiful, full home renovation for one of our clients. This was a small home but we made a huge impact. When we first walked into this house the only way to describe it was DARK! It seemed like every bit of light that made it into this house was lost on the dark trim, dingy carpet and outdated wallpaper. more
This is a Mid Century style home, sitting on a large corner lot in Sandy Springs. This location is fantastic and the neighborhood is beautiful. Gorgeous new Craftsman homes have been built up all around this property and while we could have done the same with this small 1,900 square foot house, we decided to do something a little different. more
Courtyards have been a popular feature in many homes throughout history, but in the new world where land was plentiful and privacy was abundant, courtyards became less of a necessity. Now that more homes are being built, and lot lines are growing closer and closer together they are back and better than ever. We recently completed a home in Sandy Springs that features a beautiful courtyard that measures approximately 30’x 20′. This space is accessible by two 16′ wide sliding glass doors entering from the living room and again from the master suite. We left this space blank, since this will be the focal point of the entire home and it should be a very personal reflection of the homeowner. Even though we decided not to finish the space ourselves, we had a lot of fun imagining all of the exciting ways the space could be utilized.
We are still here and working on the final details of this home! more
There has been a lot of work done since my last post for 6445 Long Island Drive. The house is just a few weeks out from being completed and it will be on the market very soon.
Despite all of this rain, we have managed to make quite a bit of progress at Long Island. We have the entire structure framed, roofed and plumbing is roughed in. We have even started putting some windows in. You can now clearly see the front elevation of the house and awesome it looks!
All of the walls for the back extension of the house have been framed now! You can walk down the the wide and well lit hallway, through each of the four secondary bedrooms and their adjoining jack and jill bathrooms.
We can rebuild it. We have the technology. We can make it better than it was. Better…stronger…faster…OK, maybe not faster.
If you have driven by our property this past week, you might have noticed the giant hole in the side of the house. This was not due to an accidental encounter with one of the bob cats digging up the backyard, this hole is where we will be attaching the new two car garage which will open to Long Island Place.
If this is the first article you have read regarding this property, I will bring you up to speed on our plans. This neighborhood is full of some beautiful mid-century modern homes, which Karen and I love.
